"Lily Looking Back" Custom bas relief sculpture created out of water based clay, bisque fired, and finished in a bronze patina

I will not die an unlived life
I will not live in fear of falling
Or of catching fire
I choose to inhabit my days
To allow my living to open me
Making me less afraid
More accessible
To loosen my heart
So that it becomes a wing, a torch, a promise
I choose to risk my significance.
To live so that that which comes to me as seed
Goes to the next as blossom
And that which comes to me as blossom
Goes on as fruit.

The Art of Horses

I love horses...the smell of them ...their strength... the kindness in their eyes... the connection I feel when I bury my face in their neck ...or place a kiss on their inviting muzzle.

When I look at a picture of a horse, I contemplate their thoughts and feelings and there is an intimacy that occurs. It’s almost like breathing their breath, or looking through their eyes.

My intention is to express this through clay.

Personal Expression

My personal pieces or my “issue work” as some might call them comes from bone crushing experiences of my youth and young adulthood. Other pieces reflect my continued journey through life as I discover who I am and what makes me “tick”.

Facing fear and failures as well as embracing triumphs throughout my lifetime have made me a stronger and more compassionate person. I hope this shows in my work.

Canine and Feline

Sculpting dogs and cats is so much fun! They have both been such a constant in my life. I can not remember a time when there wasn’t a tail wagging in my peripheral vision or a fuzzy critter weaving in and out of my legs.

I have done several sculptures for the local SPCA fund raisers, as well as several commissioned for individuals. After almost 3 decades as a master dog groomer I am pretty sure that I speak dog! The canine defines the term “body language”.
